Ann Tejeda
English Language Teacher, John Adams Elementary School, Alexandria, Virginia
Ann Tejeda has been an elementary EL teacher for 16 years. She has a master’s degree in Education, a bachelor’s degree in English K-12, an endorsement in English as a New Language, and most recently, a master’s in Reading Instruction at the University of Virginia. She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and in Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design). Ann is proficient in Spanish and works with second and third grade classes this year. Ann has been passionate about teaching English since she was a little girl. She grew up in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia starting at the age of 5 and returned to the United States to attend college. Ann spent her afternoons in Vietnam teaching English to university students at a local school, igniting her passion for teaching English. Ann loves to spend time outdoors with her two boys and her husband. Ann is always embarking on a new adventure!
