Sarah’s career in education began as a classroom teacher, having taught kindergarten, 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade. She received her undergraduate degree from Westfield State University in Elementary Education and her master’s degree from the University of Virginia as a Reading Specialist. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Sarah has served as an Early Childhood Instructional Coach and the Assistant Director of Literacy and Humanities for the New Mexico Public Education Department. While living in New Mexico, she was able to lead the statewide structured literacy initiative and was trained as a local facilitator for LETRS 3rd Edition and LETRS-Early Childhood. Sarah has also worked for Lexia Learning, supporting district and state implementations of LETRS professional learning. Most recently, she was a literacy consultant working with a number of organizations, schools, and districts in developing and delivering professional learning based upon the Science of Reading and supporting the translation of research to practice for educators.

Sarah is currently a doctoral candidate at Mount St. Joseph University in the Reading Science program. Her research interests include early childhood education, spelling, and support for multilingual learners. She resides in central Missouri with her husband, two children, and goldendoodle.
