Sound Student-Friendly Name Description
/l/ Front Tongue Lifter The mouth is open and the tip of the tongue lifts and touches behind the top teeth. This sound is voiced and continuous.
/r/ Back Tongue Lifter The tongue lifts up and back with the back sides of it touching the inside molars. The tongue should be tense. (This is a very difficult sound to isolate. It does not sound like /er/.) This sound is voiced and continuous.
