Flash Card Demo: Vowel Team 'igh'

While the 'igh' spelling pattern might be tricky at first, once students learn this vowel team, it actually becomes one of the most predictable patterns to identify and read. And flash cards are a quick, effective way to build automaticity and reinforce what students already know. This is how we warm up the vowel team card 'igh.' 'igh' says /ī/. So we say the card, 'igh,' light, /ī/. And this vowel team can be used in the middle of words or at the end of words. So in the middle of words, this is often followed by a 't', like in the word light, might, night, bright, or it could be at the end of the word like sigh.
