Teacher Tip

Talking About Words that Answer "When?", "Where?", "Why?", and "How?"
Students can demonstrate understanding of text that they listen to or read by expanding sentences with answers to "When?", "Where?", "How?", and "Why?". Answering these questions encourages students to use the information in the text to expand their answers. Identify adverbs during read-alouds or in whatever text students are reading.
