Rebecca Schmidt, M.Ed.

Author

Rebecca has been working in the education and literacy space for almost two decades. After graduating from Grinnell College, she began her career with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes which sparked an interest in literacy and learning. She received her Masters in Education from George Washington University and taught 3rd-5th grades in Washington DC for 8 years, in both DC Public Schools and charter schools. After leaving the classroom, she worked for Reading Partners, a national nonprofit organization that partners with schools and communities to help support elementary students struggling with reading.

Rebecca moved to the Bay Area in late 2017 and joined the Oakland Literacy Coalition as their first Program Manager, supporting literacy programs and initiatives across Oakland. Rebecca lives in San Francisco with her husband and toddler. She enjoys hiking, coffee, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, reading.

Above all, Rebecca is motivated to help students grow into loving advocates for themselves, their communities, and their world.
