Teacher Tip

Talking About Conjunctions Throughout the School Day
We use conjunctions a lot in texts that students listen to or read. When doing read-alouds, have students listen for conjunctions. They help us understand the meaning of the text. Have students repeat a sentence with a conjunction and have them identify the parts that are being linked by and, or, but, and other conjunctions. Oral practice with conjunctions helps build understanding and brings attention to these important little words.
